Love the concept! I have logged into one tasting, so far and was impressd with the ease of connecting, the dialogue among participants and the knowledge and expertise of the panelists. It's a safe and enjoyable way to taste wine, meet people and learn. I recommend learning before tasting, you'll remember more. Not to ...

My Wine Bio

Name:
Denise Medrano

Gender:
Female

Occupation:
retail

Reason for being a Tastorian:
I consider myself a wine expert.

Wine epiphany:
I would't say it was an epiphany but more of a slow burn. I worked for a time in fine dining in Wash.,DC and was exposed to so many great wines via tastings on the job that I knew I wanted to learn more and more. Somehow wine just became one of the passions of my life.

Memorable wine experience:
One of my most memorable experiences was in Argentina. I was taking a sommelier course and our professor invited all the students and profs. to his house for a BBQ. The only thing we had to bring were our favourite or most interesting wines. We had a BBQ on his rooftop terrace and spent most of the evening opening up bottle after bottle, good food, interesting company and fab wines, although there were a few misses, it was still great fun and even educational.

Funniest wine experience:
see above

Death-bed Wine:
Aged German Spatlese Riesling

Biggest wine disappointment:
probably have to be Southern Italian wines. I've tried to like them but seem to be disappointed every time.

Wine hero:
Jean-Luc Colombo, because he's ignored all the naysayers and makes great wines

About Me

I am a wine professional on the retail side here in the UK. My main interests are in Old World wines, France and Germany being the big 2 ones for me with NZ Pinot not far behind.

Hi Denise, great to have you as a Tastorian. I love your taste in wine and you clearly have loads of knowledge! That rooftop Argentinian experience sounds amazing. Best wishes JB
