Testimonials

The evening with Tastoria was a wonderful experience. It was great to enjoy the selection of wines which were expertly paired with the food. It is also nice to do this in the comfort of your own home which removes the potential intimidation factor that can be available at a public tasting event. I will definitely do...

My Wine Bio

Name:
Brian Smith

Gender:
Male

Occupation:
Broadcaster

Reason for being a Tastorian:
I am a wine lover, and want to know more about it.

Where did you hear about Tastoria?:
Job advert for a presenter position

Wine epiphany:
When I was growing up and at home and started cooking and the BBC's Food and Drink show was something I started taking an interest in. They had a particular red wine from Oz I believe called Kunoonga Hill and I bought it for a dinner I cooked my parents and well all enjoyed the wine and it all started from there.

Memorable wine experience:
Having a Dom Perignon given to me on Valentine's day of 1999 and saving it for the new millennium and it was wonderful.

Funniest wine experience:
Going to the Korbel winery in california and asking the tour guide how they were allowed to call it Champagne when we in Europe know unless it comes from there you can't call it that and seeing all the American tourists going - oh my God did you hear what he said. hehe!!

Death-bed Wine:
Definitely a Chateauneuf Du Pape. I am a white wine drinker but LOVE that stuff.

Biggest wine disappointment:
Had a bottle of Krug Champagne for the new millenium and friends got it from South of France and when they opened it, it was bad. Their lodger had turned a radiator on where they stored their wine and killed the lot. oh dear!!

My Vineyard:
I like Oz Clarke and Jilly Goolden, they started me on my wine journey
